wine
The
world is currently experiencing one of the most exciting
times in the history of wine. The course of the past few
decades has witnessed a joining of two schools of thought
in the global wine industry: those who believe that wine
is made in the vineyard and those who believe that wine
is made at the winery. These philosophies, once at odds,
have made collective progress by learning from each others
techniques and traditions. The results have been fantastic.
There has never been as much superior wine from which to
choose and so many talented winemakers pushing the envelope
to satisfy an ever increasing, and discerning market.
The wine program at the Staunton Grocery
is committed to sourcing the highest quality wines from
around the world that enhance, and are enhanced by, the
cuisine of Chef Ian Boden. The menu philosophy, focusing
on simple presentations that allow the exceptional quality
of the ingredients to shine forth, is mirrored by wine selections
that reflect the soils and years in which they were grown.
Wines selected for the list are chosen for their value and
represent classic regions such as France and California
as well as those like Virginia and Austria that are just
beginning to show their potential.
Wine Director Kyle Boatright encourages
diners to try something different and is always available
for a consultation. His main goal is to ensure each guests
satisfaction and enjoyment of the dining experience. Like
the menu, the wine list is constantly evolving and will
continue to grow with time.
