The Staunton Grocery, set in the Shenandoah Valley in central Virginia, prides itself on sourcing the best materials the Valley has to offer. Currently we are sourcing our ingredients from 20 plus local family farms. Products include farmstead cheeses, grass feed beef, heritage pork and free range organic chickens. This summer we are sourcing about 90% of all of our produce locally and about 50% of our meats locally. Anything that we can't find in our region we source from other artisan producers, including heirloom grits and wild and sustainable seafood. We use all of these wonderful ingredients to create our ever changing menus, which reflect the locale of the restaurant with updated versions of classic southern cuisine in what we like to call contemporary Virginian.

Servers
We are looking for experienced servers for Full and Part time positions. Detailed knowledge of food and wine, attention to detail and a desire to bring professionalism to the business required. We have an energetic team that is looking to add members to our high-energy, thought provoking environment. If you have a positive outlook and a desire to learn we would like to meet you.

Sous Chef
This is a job for someone who's been in the Kitchen for a minimum of 5 years. Must be a self starter with a passion for their craft. Responsibilities include, but are not limited too; working with the Chef and other Sous Chef on menu development; assisting in ordering and organization of the kitchen and kitchen staff; assisting in team building with and the development of the kitchen staff; working a station on the hot line with line cooks to insure the Chef's and restaurants standards are met.
 
Line Cook

Schedule: Our cooks work Tuesday through Sunday from 12 noon till the job is done.

Daily Responsibilities: Working with the Chef and Sous Chef to execute new menu ideas for our constantly changing menu. Prepping their station for service and executing dishes.

At the Staunton Grocery we look for people that have the drive an need to be in the kitchen. Our staff is very dedicated and I look for people who strive to work harder and improve themselves through their daily tasks. This is a job for hungry cooks, not cooks with stars in their eyes.

 
Intern

Schedule: Tuesday though Sunday from 12 noon until around 11 pm

Daily Responsibilities: Helping to prep for service and organizing deliveries. The purpose is to get familiar with ingredients used at The Staunton Grocery and to start to gain a respect for them in that they will being meeting and dealing directly with the farms that grow the products that we use.

Accompanying the chef to the farmers market twice a week to further their understanding of where our foods come from, and once again, to meet the people that grow our food.

During service, depending on the experience of said intern, they will assist one of our experienced line cooks or Sous Chef in the execution of dishes during service.
